Grilled Cheese, Commercials, and $50,000
October 16, 2007
GLENVIEW, Ill. — To many, the grilled
cheese sandwich is a symbol of simplicity and happiness. Now Kraft Singles
is giving grilled cheese lovers the chance to share their happy moments
with the Kraft Singles “Have A Happy Sandwich” video contest launching on
MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/haveahappysandwich.
The contest invites people to create their own 10- to 15-second
interpretation of a Kraft Singles “Have A Happy Sandwich” commercial.
Participants are encouraged to use their favorite creative mediums, such as
illustration, video, animation, music and even comedy. One winner will
receive $50,000 and the chance to see his or her video brought to life as a
national commercial.
“In a complex world, we’re all searching for simple, uncomplicated
joys, like the happy moments created by a delicious grilled cheese sandwich
made with Kraft Singles,” said Jane Hilk, vice president of marketing for
Cheese & Dairy at Kraft Foods. “We look forward to learning what Americans
love about grilled cheese through the ‘Have A Happy Sandwich’ video
contest.”
Kraft Singles’ new television advertising campaign, “Have A Happy
Sandwich,” debuted Oct. 1. The unique, film-like television ads — created
by artists, illustrators and animators — showcase the simple joys of
grilled cheese sandwiches in a fun, modern way.
ABOUT THE CONTEST
From Oct. 15 to Nov. 12, 2007, consumers can visit

prize, the winner may see his or her video realized as a national
commercial.
Every week during the contest Kraft also will award a digital video
camera to randomly selected MySpace “Friends” of the Kraft Singles “Have A
Happy Sandwich.” The page will also house fun extras such as a downloadable
MySpace theme, page badge and desktop screensaver.
“The grilled cheese is a classic that’s long been loved by people of
all ages,” added Hilk. “In fact, Americans enjoy more than 2 billion
grilled cheese sandwiches each year. We’d like Americans to join us in
taking a fresh and fun look at one of their favorite at-home foods by
expressing themselves in one of their favorite online communities.”
